Bates Professional Create Tickets
Our new Bates Professional now has a Print Shop feature that may be accessed when selecting Create Tickets from the Input Source menu. Below is an overview of the steps to use Create Tickets:

Custom Label and Paper Sizes
We currently offer the 3 most popular sizes of paper, 8.5x11, 8.5x14, 11x17.
All projects, regardless of paper size
may be printed to a NEW PDF DOCUMENT which may be proofed before printing the
New PDF Document to paper. This
allows better control of results which will save you time and money. Overview of
general operation is shown below:
Input Source - On the Input Source Page select Create Tickets. Press Next.
Label Type - On the Label Type Page press the Select a Different Label button.
Add Label - This page displays the list of labels available to you. If you do not see the size label you need Press the Add Label button below the list.
Paper Size - Before you fill in your Label information in the Add Label screen click the drop down arrow and select the Paper Size for your project.
Tip: You can name you Label anything
you like. We recommend you use the following format when adding a new label as
it will make it much easier for you to select the proper label for a new
project. Paper Size Label Size
Horizontal or Vertical - # Across x #
Down (i.e. 12 x 15 2 x 5 V 6 Up x 3 Dn) In this example we are going to lay out
a 11 x 17 page with 16, 2 x 5 Horizontal labels, 2 across x 8 down. Please look this page image below over
closely. You need a clear vision of
how you page will look when you fill in the dimensions on this page. It may be helpful to sketch a example of
how you would like the finished page to look.

Ticket
Input - On the Ticket Input screen select the
file format required from the dropdown menu. This can be in PDF, TIF or Graphic
files. Add the item you want to produce. NOTE: For proper processing of the Background,
image size and orientation must match the size and orientation of the labels on
the page.
If you add an image in the Front of Label field only, the program
will print the front only.
If you add an image to the Front of Label and Back of Label field check the Two Sided box, the program will print the front of label first, the back pages, for Duplex Output check the Box.odd number pages are the front of the label and even number pages are the back of the label.
Customer Information When the information is filled out on the Customer Information page, it triggers the option to save your setup after pressing the print button. The information is stored in the Database by the Client Name. If saved, you may continue this job from the Use Existing Data option on the Input Source page. The next starting number of your project is automatically inserted.
Additional Information - On the Additional Information page define the number of pages, how they are processed, and starting number. As always, press the HELP button for information on all fields on this screen and any other screen. If you have more than 1 label per page you will see the Depth: this feature changes numbering to top to bottom and then next label. Please look at the sample on the website.
Label Position Information - The Label Position Information is the screen where you will enter properties and position all elements. With the ability to enter unlimited number of fields in multiple formats Bates Professional Print Shop offers capabilities that no other program can match. The Label Position Information section below details the additional features available in Print Shop Mode. This screen may be expanded to full screen. CTRL Arrow Keys offer fine adjustment of the highlighted element, the sequential variable in this case. The circle arrow buttons next to the current label box rotate the highlighted element, the sequential variable in this case.
Label Output Destination - The Output Destination page allows you to print to a Printer, to image printers or to our built in PDF File printer. The Output Destination section below details the additional features available in Print Shop Mode.
We recommend that you always print a custom page production to a PDF file or Image file first. This allows you to proof your project before you print to other media. After you are sure it is correct, print the document to your printer. You will find this gives you much more consistent results. If you have saved this first run to the database, additional production of this job can be sent directly to the printer when the job is continued from Use Existing Data.
The Lookup button at the end of the Printer field, [ ] opens the properties of the selected printer. NOTE: Please check the Paper Size on this page and change if it is not correct. The current label is displayed on the bottom status bar, right corner.
Print Preview - The Print Preview page may be expanded to full screen, and allows you to preview the first page of your job before printing. Press the Next button to start the process.
Save to Database - If you have filled in the Customer Information page, the Save to Database screen will load after processing and allow you to save your project to the database. It may be selected for processing again by selecting Use Existing Data on the Input Source screen. You are returned to Main Page.
